Rise

Hey guys, so today I was just listening to Colton Dixon's new album, A Messenger, & even though the album in its entirety is amazing, one song really stood out to me.

It goes by the name of "Rise".
When I first heard it, I was just purely amazed at Colton Dixon's musical talent in singing that song.

If you're a Skillet fan like me though, there's also another meaning to "Rise".
It's the name of their new highly anticipated album coming out soon.

As Skillet has stated in interviews, they're new album ended up portraying a specific theme, a story.
"The album tells the story of a typical American teen coming into adulthood and trying to figure out who he is in a world riddled with problems both within and outside his control."

These are just two examples, but it seems the term 'rise' is used quite frequently by Christian musicians. So this got me thinking, why use the term rise? The message that it brings may be simple, but it's a message that can apply to us in all walks if life & will help us keep our eyes fixed on God.

Firstly, for those of us that are caught in sin's grasp such that there seems to be no way out, or have done things that are so regrettable they cannot be forgotten, 'rise' is a message of redemption.
Just as Christ died because of our sin and still rise from the grave, He did it all so that we could rise as well. So once again, we are reminded of the power Christ has given us to rise out of our ashes, all we need to do is be willing to rise - with Him.

So once we've managed to accept Christ's help in rising above the sin that binds us to our flesh, where do we go from here?

Even though we've risen higher than we once were, it's important to remember that we have not risen higher than anyone else, cause we are still sinners at the end of the day. The only thing that makes us different is the fact we have Christ to help us rise out of our sin.

Think about it, some people may not be familiar about the ability to rise that Christ gives, or may not have heard of it before. And now we're here, with joy in our hearts that we've risen above our sin when people around us are suffering because they have no way out.. Once we've risen, it's only right to spread this great thing to others!

'Rise' is also the ultimate challenge for many of us.

For me, I have been doing everything but rising, as I've been sitting in the comfortable chair of my life for a vey long time now.

Rise challenges us to rise up out of the comfortable chairs of our lives & to get out there. It moves us completely out of our comfort zones so that we may rely less on ourselves & put more trust in God to carry out His plan for our lives.

Think about it this way.
Staying within our comfort zones really gets us nowhere. As being comfortable means being in control of our lives at all times, of only doing things familiar, & staying away from anything that may potentially harm us. It basically means we're living off our own instinct, living off our trust & faith in ourself. But if you think about that, this really doesn't go very far, as sooner or later down the road we'll realise how badly flawed we are & starting to lose the trust/faith in ourselves. Then, the only comfortable thing would be to completely to shut ourselves out from the world, & that would be terrible.

On the other hand, if we continuously stepped out of our comfort zone by giving the control of our lives  to One we cannot see, we'll never know where we'll be going. There are endless amounts of possibilities, & we have the firstly discomfortable yet in the end comfortable feeling that everything will work out for our own good.

Rising out of our comfortable seats is so much more exciting & will do us so much more good. We just need the purpose & faith to do so, which I'm sure will be revealed as we continually to seek The Lord, if we haven't found it already.

I really hope this this may have given you a bit of insight in how you can rise for the glory of Him in your life today.

Until next time,

Godbless~
